Trey Hutchens Racing Set to Expand to the NGOTS
Winston-Salem, N.C. (May 15, 2019) – When this weekend’s North Carolina Education Lottery 200 hits the high banks of Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday evening, the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS) will see a new team attempt to qualify for the 32-truck field.
Trey Hutchens, North Carolina State University mechanical engineering senior, and his father, Bobby, intend to field the No. 14 Chevrolet Silverado on a part-time basis for the remainder of the 2019 NGOTS season.
“There’s obviously a lot of nerves, but a lot of excitement, too,” Trey Hutchens said. “I’m not sure you’re ever truly ready to make the leap Dad and I are making; there just comes a time you have to load the truck into the hauler and go to the racetrack. This weekend is the culmination of a lot of hard work over a 10-month journey Dad and I have been on to get ready.”
Coming off the heels of eight top-five finishes in nine Southern Modified Racing Series starts in 2018, Trey Hutchens Racing will prepare a No. 14 truck familiar to fans of Modified Racing in the Southeast.
“It means a lot to Dad and me to continue our family’s pedigree in one of NASCAR’s national series,” said the former Sunoco Rookie of the Year for the former NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour. “For 60 years, my family has been racing the No. 14 blue and yellow modified -- most recently with me behind the wheel at short tracks across North Carolina. It’s going to come full circle when we hit the track on Friday in Charlotte.”
While Friday’s North Carolina Education Lottery 200 will be only Hutchens’ second NGOTS start (first at Iowa Speedway in June 2017), the driver and crew are optimistic for a strong performance.
“Chevrolet has been instrumental in getting us on track by providing the tools necessary to compete,” Trey Hutchens explained. “I think our Silverado is going to turn a few heads.”
Trey Hutchens Racing is excited to welcome back returning partners such as Heintz Performance, as well as new partners such as Flagship Supply Kitchen & Bath Cabinetry & Design.
