Trey Hutchens Racing Returns to Truck Competition at Kentucky

Winston-Salem, NC (July 9th, 2020) - When the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoor Truck Series (NGROTS) returns for the series seventh race of the year, it will end a near eleven-month break for the Trey Hutchens Racing team. With NASCAR’s COVID-19 provisions and the elimination of qualifying, the #14 has been unable to acquire a spot in the 40-truck field until this weekend’s “Buckle Up In Your Truck 225” at Kentucky Speedway. The last time Hutchens entered a NGROTS event, the NC State University Mechanical Engineering Senior finished in the sixteenth position at Michigan Speedway.
“It seems like eleven years, not eleven months, since we last raced at Michigan. My quarantine was spent finishing the semester up online so driving into the racetrack on Saturday will be a welcomed change of pace,” Hutchens said.
While Hutchens excitement is evident, there also is a steep learning curve ahead for the NASCAR National Series Rookie. The first lap of the race will mark the twenty-two-year old’s first laps at the Sparta, KY racetrack.
“It’s going to be interesting,” Hutchens said with a smile. “There is going to be a lot to learn on my end as a driver but I’m excited for the challenge. It’s hard to learn watching these races from home, so I welcome the opportunity. I know Dad and I have been doing everything we can to ensure we have a fast Silverado.”
The #14 Truck will start from the 40th position in the “Buckle Up In Your Truck 225” at Kentucky Speedway. The race will be shown live on FS1 at 6 PM EST on Saturday, July 11th. For updates throughout the weekend, follow Trey on Twitter: @treyhutchens and Facebook: treyhutchensracing.
