Hutchens finishes 19th at Iowa Speedway

After a weekend that showed much promise, the Trey Hutchens Racing team seemed dumbfounded after being credited with a 19th place finish in Saturday’s “Casey’s General Store 150” at Iowa Speedway in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West combination event.
“I’m not quite sure,” Hutchens put simply when asked what changed between posting the 8th quickest time in final practice and finishing 19th in the race after qualifying a dismal 23rd.
“Qualifying didn’t alarm me too much because I could tell in practice we may not have great fire off speed, but I still thought we were one of the best cars in the field in race trim. We struggled, plain and simple. Our Chevrolet SS was extremely tight all race.”
Although the weekend wasn’t where the Trey Hutchens Racing team wanted to be, both driver and crew chief remained optimistic.
“No one told Dad and I that this was going to be easy when we began in this series. Doing your own program is a constant, uphill fight. We are going to forget about this weekend and do the only thing we know to do and that’s get back to the shop and better our race car for Dover. We have a lot to look forward to with Dover that will be announced in the coming weeks. In addition, we have a few modified races scheduled in the meantime.”
The “Casey’s General Store 150” will be shown on tape delay on August 5th at 2 p.m. on NBC Sports Network.
