Hutchens Returns to Family's Roots at Bowman Gray Stadium August 4, 2016

When it comes to families and Bowman Gray Stadium, there may be no family with larger ties than that of the Hutchens family. Trey Hutchens’ great-grandfather, Claude, competed in Bowman Gray Stadium’s first race, his grandfather, Bud, was a renowned car owner for decades, and his father, Bobby, is a seven-time Modified winner.

“I’ve spent many nights in section 23 at Bowman Gray Stadium. More than you could imagine if we are being honest. It’s not hard to realize my family pedigree means a great deal to me, and Bowman Gray will forever hold a special place in my heart. Competing there is somewhat surreal given all the history but it is something I try to relish in."

In Hutchens’ lone start at Bowman Gray Stadium in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour he recorded a 13th place finish, but he is looking to better that stat this time around. “Last year I learned a tremendous amount about racing at such a challenging venue. Unfortunately we got in an accident and were stripped of an opportunity to show what I learned and finish inside the Top-10. I’m looking forward to 199 laps around the “Madhouse” on Saturday night in my Hayes Jewelers/All-Star Truck and Trailer Repair Chevrolet."
