Hutchens Ends 2016 Season with Top-10 at Charlotte Motor Speedway October 9, 2016

This past Thursday’s "Bad Boy Off Road Southern Slam 150" at Charlotte Motor Speedway marked the eleventh and final race for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour Season.

“Charlotte Motor Speedway is a really cool place for our series to crown a champion; unfortunately, we didn’t compete in every race this year due to scheduling conflicts. Hopefully next year we can enter this weekend with a little more on the line.”

Thursday’s race was also the Trey Hutchens Racing team’s second start at the quarter-mile race track and Trey Hutchens was able to best his first finish of 13th in 2015 with a 10th place finish, after starting the race in 14th.

“I was really happy with our Hayes Jewelers Chevrolet in practice but we struggled to knock off a really quick lap time and that proved evident in qualifying. Charlotte is really tough place to pass so our qualifying effort really hurt us, but we were able to fight for 150 laps to get inside the Top-10. It wasn’t exactly how we pictured our night going, but we didn’t give up and got a respectable finish in a competitive field.”

The "Bad Boy Off Road Southern Slam 150" will be shown on NBC Sports Network on Friday, October 14th at 3:30 pm. The Trey Hutchens Racing team will now look ahead to the 2017 season.

“The 2016 season has been full of ups and downs, but I hate to see it go. This being said, Dad and I are working diligently to put together our program for 2017 and I look forward to announcing our plans in the coming weeks. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to finishing out my first semester at North Carolina State University.”
