Hutchens Set to Kick Off 2017 Season at New Smyrna Speedway

Sunday Night’s “Jet Tools 150” at New Smyrna Speedway marks the season opener for the 2017 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Season and Trey Hutchens second visit to the half-mile race track.
“It has been a long off-season so to say I am excited to get to New Smyrna is an understatement. Dad and I learned a lot there last year and I think we are only going to be better this year. Before we even get to the race track, I need to thank Dad. I have been away at North Carolina State University so he has been working twice as hard to get me to the race track without my help in the shop. Hopefully I can repay him Sunday night with a checkered flag.”
After an unideal qualifying effort last year of 24th, Hutchens and company still managed to finish the race in the 14th position.
“New Smyrna is a unique race track. Track position was critical last year so Dad and I will put an extra emphasis on qualifying. I felt we were a Top-10 car but were unable to show it. I am confident our #14 Chevrolet will be ready to go on Saturday to test and Sunday to race.”
